There are several communities around Queen Elizabeth National Park that might catch your adventurous appetite uptight. Within these villages you will get entertainment from a couple of cultural dance groups and their dance. Leopard Village (Muhokya Village) -Communities around Queen Elizabeth National Park

The leopard village is also known as Muhokya Village. This village is famous for its infinite tolerance towards the leopards that have kept on preying on their domestic livestock. Many people have said that it’s one lion and its cub. But others have continued to confirm that they are more than one leopard in Muhokya Village. Hence the village is called “Leopard Village” as a result.

Secondly, the village is within a Community Resource Center, the leopard village is a clear example of a community co-existing with wildlife. By supporting their cultural activities, you would be assisting in conservation and sustainable development activities.

Leopard Village is a place for both the local community of Queen Elizabeth National Park. And the global community of tourists who come to visit the park.  It can be visited as part of a short break on the drive to the park. Or as part of a longer visit. While here people can enjoy different cultural dances and other social activities. Plus a visit to the replicas of traditional huts of Basongora, Banyabindi and Bakonzo Ethnic groups. Leopard Village is the center of ecotourism activities and include displays on local culture and natural history. It also has a small library for the village children. And a meeting space for community members, tourists, researchers, and national & international students as well.

Kikorongo Women Community (Communities around Queen Elizabeth National Park)

Kikorongo Women Community is a fun group found in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kikorongo word is a local Rukonzo word meaning “too much sunshine” that is experienced in the African plains, Savannah area of the park.

Inspite of too much hotness, Kikorongo women community will surprise with the energetic cultural dances. You will get a chance to be explained to the local meaning and significance of the dances.

While here you will get a chance to learn some of the traditional craft skills. And these include basket weaving, making of paper beads and making of banana fiber bowls. These moments will give you a thriving experience.

Subsequently, the visits to the kikorongo group of women have uplifted their wellbeing and standards of living.

Nyanz’ibiri Cave Community – Communities around Queen Elizabeth National Park

To begin with, From serious fun, game drives take a walk to enjoy different scenery views at this community village known as the Cave. This is a place to forget all and enjoy the sounds of singing birds like the crested cranes. Enjoy viewing volcanic crater lakes.

You can also get a chance to paddle a canoe, and hike to the transparent Lake Known as ‘Kamunzuku’.

The organization managing the communities also offers a campsite and an eco-camp where tourists can reside. This campsite is also called Dave the cave. The campsite has dorms and cabins, I strongly recommend you do full board while so that you don’t miss the wonderful cuisines. Dave the cave Eco – Lodge overlooks the crater Lake called Kamweru

Katwe Tourism Information Centre (KATIC)– Communities around Queen Elizabeth National Park

Talking about epic centers in Queen Elizabeth National Park is Katwe – Kabatoro community on Katwe Salt Lake. It’s a famous point in the western where traditional salt mining is the main economic activity. Lake Katwe is Neighbors Lake Munyanyange which is a well-known Bird Sanctuary.

The village gives a learning process of how the salt mining happens from the Salt Lake of Katwe. And its quite a tedious process.

Agro – Tour Walk in Communities around Queen Elizabeth National Park

Here, this happens around Kichwamba escarpment in Katara village. The walk also takes about 2 – 3 hours, hiking through local farms, taking snap into honey harvesting activities and visiting local homesteads. The Agro- tour walk is always fun in the morning or in the evening.

After the walk you could take a rest at katara Lodge, have a shower and a soothing evening tea or a meal.
