Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala- Mgahinga National Park

Depart Kampala, drive to Kisoro via Mbarara. Admire Kigezi highlands, Virunga ranges. Explore Mgahinga, home to mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and diverse bird species. Overnight at Mt. Gahinga Lodge (high end), Kisoro Tourist Hotel (Mid), or Kisoro Travellers Rest Hotel (Budget).

Day 2: Mgahinga Gorilla Tracking

Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates. It takes about 3 or 5 hours as given the small size of the park. Spend an hour or two with these highly endangered species as you learn a few things about them. Dinner and overnight at Mt. Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking OR Volcano Hiking

You may go for golden monkey tracking alongside other primates or you can go for a Volcano hiking on any of the volcanic peaks of your choice. This requires fitness and an early start. Go for a least stressing hike on Gahinga which also offers a chance of spotting golden monkeys and forest birds. Or you can hike Muhabura the highest peak in about nine hours.  Another option is the Batwa trail – enjoy their cultural dance and drama. Dinner and overnight at Mt. Day 4: Mgahinga NP- Kampala/Entebbe
