UWA’S STRUGGLE TO CONSERVE WILDLIFE – UGANDA SAFARI TOURS
UWA is Uganda Wildlife Authority in Uganda is a government agency that conserves and manages Uganda’s wildlife for the people of Uganda and whole, it ensures sustainable management of wildlife resources and and supervises wildlife activities. And this week the following were undertaken by them towards achieving their goals.
UWA veterinary team rescued infant Gorilla hurt by Poachers
In Mgahinga – The Uganda wildlife Authority veterinary team rescued and treated a young Gorilla called Tulambule
This young gorilla comes from Nyakagezi Gorilla Family in Mgahinga National Park in western Uganda. The Veterinary team confirmed that the young Gorilla was hurt by the poachers.
The Global conservation team states that there are now from 340 gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which is home nearly Half the world’s mountain gorillas. Which has also confirmed a 12% growth in the number of gorilla’s over the past decade.
The above, takes us back to Uganda wildlife Authority Bill 2017 which states that people found guilty of trading in endangered species will be sentenced to life imprisonment. So therefore, UWA is doing a great job to conserve wildlife.
UWA pitches camp in kagadi to capture man eating crocodiles
The UWA problem Animal management team has pitched camp camp in Kagadai district to strictly handle crocodiles problems in the area.
The community ran to UWA authorities reporting and blaming UWA for not handling the man-eating reptiles.
A while ago wildlife used to cause damage to to surrounding areas including loss of life; destruction of crops and domestic animals.
This has meticulously been handled by UWA through the UWA act 2019 that states all damage caused or induced by wildlife animals to the surrounding areas will be compensated for or paid for.
