In this article we present to you accommodation facilities in Kidepo Valley National Park. This Park is situated in the North Eastern part of Uganda bordering Kenya and Sudan. The park is far from the main city Kampala and other areas making it the less visited park and destination in Uganda (or while on a Uganda Wild safari tour). It takes you idepo is a semi arid park with low rainfall and seasonal rivers in the valleys. Kidepo is rich in wildlife with animals like buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, girrafes, Bush pig, cheetahs, leopards and ostriches among others.

Besides game viewing as an activity, Kidepo is surrounded by communities that have managed to preserve their culture. These include the Karamojong and Ik people in the Morungule mountains. Visiting these indeginous people gives you an insight on the way of living that is different from other people.

Visiting Kidepo Valley National Park will give you another whole different experience, refreshment and nourishment of the mind as the park is far from the madding crowd of cities and towns. 1. Apoka Safari Lodge is one of the top accommodation Facilities in Kidepo.          

Accommodation Facilities in Kidepo

This is one of the oldest and only luxury accommodation facility located in the park. The lodge overlooks Narus Valley which at times gives guests a chance to spot animals like elephants feeding in the valley. The lodge has 10 spacious rooms including a family room that were built using wood and other materials made by local craftsmen. There is a swimming pool  caved out of a big rock where you can cool off after a game drive in the park or relax there when you are not going to do any game drives. The lodge has a restaurant with all kinds of cuisines, however, you have to book prior. There is also a bar where you can order a cold beer or different kinds of wines and spirits.

2. Kidepo Savannah Lodge

Kidepo Savannah Lodge is located near the park just a few meters from Kalukodo gate. This accommodation facility is a tented camp with both self-contained safari tents with ensuite bathrooms and lazy camping/non-self-contained tents with shared bathrooms outside. It therefore caters for both budget and mid-range travellers. The lodge also overlooks the park giving beatifull views of the horizon, hills beging the park and breathtaking sunsets. Animals usually come near the lodge to feed in the grasslands below the lodge. The restaurant offers a set/fixed menu, however, they are flexible if you have any dietary restrictions. Not forgetting a bar with all kinds of drinks ranging from beers to spirits. Most of the Accommodation Facilities in Kidepo Valley National Park do have.

3. Nga’moru Wilderness Camp

The name of the park was derived from the locals and it means a place of rocks. This lodge also faces the Narus Valley that gives a chance to guests to see animals grazing in the park like antelopes, buffaloes and others. In the evening, guests are able to enjoy a camp fire as they tell stories. The lodge has 5 self-contained rooms with ensuite bathrooms. There is an on site restaurant.

4. Adere Safari Lodge – accommodation Facilities in Kidepo

Adere Safari Lodge is one of the newest lodges in Kidepo Valley National Park. It caters for travelers who would wish to stay in either mid-range or luxury accommodations. The lodge has 20 self-contained chalets. It also has a lounge for relaxation, an onsite restaurant plus a bar to ease your stay. There is a swimming pool to cool off your body when the temperatures get too hot. The lodge also has beautiful views of the park which are mostly accessed when you are near the poolside.

5. Apoka Rest Camp

Apoka Rest Camp is a budget accommodation facility managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority inside the park situated in the capital of Kidepo Valley National Park. This camp is ideal for budget travellers, it has 16 self-contained banda’s with ensuite bathrooms and 14 non-self-contained banda’s with shared bathrooms outside. The camp does not have a provision of meals and drinks, guests are advised to come with their own food and drinks for the time they will be staying. The camp staff arranges the cooking.
