Eating Places in Mbarara city. Mbarara City is the second largest city after Kampala and the capital of Western Uganda. It is popularly known as the land of milk and honey. It is a major stop for lunch as you go for Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable or Mgahinga National Parks or Queen Elizabeth National Park.

1. Igongo Cultural Center – Eating Places in Mbarara city

Igongo Cultutal Center has modern exotic and traditional cultural restaurants that cater for everyone. You can therefore have a chance of testing some of the local dishes of Uganda. Here you will also get to enjoy a cool glass of juice from organic Ugandan fruits. If you have time, you can visit their Cultural museum to have a look at the arts and crafts of the different cultures in Western Uganda.

2. Baguma Restaurant

If you are enthusiastic about testing Ugandan Local food, this is your place to go while in Mbarara town. The food is harvested from the garden, cleaned and cooked immediately. While here, endeavor to taste Mbarara special delicacy “eshabwe”.

3. Ishanyu Food Center

This is found on Mbarara-Bushenyi Road and you can mostly get delicious local dishes. If you are out of time and cannot sit to eat from there, they pack the food for you to enjoy it as you continue with your journey.

4. Agip Motel

One of the oldest motels in Mbarara located on Mbarara-Masaka road is where you can have lunch when you stop in Mbarara. The motel has buffets with different local delicacies. And if you like, you can spend a night there after enjoying Mbarara City Life.

5. Milk and honey Cafe

Located on Mbarara High Street, this is one of the spots where you can get a quick meal. The cafe provides a wide range of meals from fries and burgers to buffets with all the local meals. Here you can also get a cup of coffee, cappuccino or tea and piece of cake.

Mbarara City is a must stop while you are going on a trip to Western Uganda. With less than an hour as you go to Kampala, you can stop at Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest park in Uganda for a game walk or drive and a boat trip.
