THE BIODIVERSITY, WILDLIFE AND CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Kibale National Forest Park has one of the most Diverse and Concentration of Primates in Africa. It harbors a big number of endangered chimpanzees, as well as the red colobus Monkey also considered to be endangered.

The park is gifted with over 325 species of birds, 4 wild felids, 13 species of primates, and a total of at least 70 other species of mammals, not forgetting over 250 tree species.

In Kibale National Park, there are 13 primate species as mentioned earlier including several species of central African Monkey, the Uganda manga bey (Lophocebus ugandae), the Ugandan red colobus (Procolobus tephrosceles) and the Lhotse’s Monkey are all-inclusive.

Other primates that are in the park include Black and white colobus (Colobus Guereza) and the blue monkey (Cercopithecus mitis).

The park’s number of Elephants is considered basing on the two parks these elephants travel between Kibale National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

There are other terrestrial Mammals found in Kibale National Park that include Red and Blue Duikers, bushbucks, sitatungas, bush pigs’ warthogs, giant forest hogs and Buffalo. The park too is gifted with members of the cat family that is Leopards, African golden cats, servals, several kinds of mongooses and two species of otter. Some Lions from Queen Elizabeth Visit the park too.

Birding in the park can also happen at length, the park boasts with over 325 Species of Birds, Some of these include the western green Tinker Bird, Olive Long-tailed cuckoo, two species of pittas(African and green – breasted) and the African Grey parrot, Imperative to note that the ground thrush is endemic to Kibale National park.

The Green plant cover the park boasts about with is backed up by about 50 species of trees found within the Moist tropical forests of the park. Some of the endangered timber of trees include; Lovoa swynnertonnii, Cordia millenii, and Entandrophragma angolense.

The forest is also reigned by shade tolerant shrubs and herbs, some of which include Palisota shweinfurthii and pollia condesata.
