Kibale National Park is located in the Western Part of Uganda and covers an area of about 26Km south East of Fort Portal District. The Park is located in the districts of Kabarole and Kamwenge, about 320 Km from Kampala, by road. Its situated near Ndali – Kasenda crater area, Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Rwenzori Mountains, Semuliki National Park and also Toro – semliki wildlife reserve.

How To get to Kibale National Park on a Uganda Safari
Kibale National Park can be accessed through Mubende and Fort portal from Kampala or through Mbarara and Kamwenge then Kampala to Ibanda to Kamwenge. There is a daily public transport between Kampala and Fort Portal by bus.
The northern approach is shorter and quicker, with a 300 km tarmac road running to Fort Portal followed by 36 km on the tarmac to Kanyanchu visitor’s center.
The Kanyanchu visitor’s center is 10 km from the park headquarters. The entire road to the park is tarmac giving it a good road accessibility. Kibale National Park can also be accessed from Queen Elizabeth National Park, its Just a 2 hours drive.
One could access the park too through a secondary tourism site; Sebitoli Forest camp, which is also regarded as a chimpanzee family group. Sebitoli is 12 Km before Fort Portal. Which option can be easier for some tourists and Visiting people in Kibale.
While using public means you could opt for using Gaga Buses that go to Fort Portal on a Daily Basis, these stop in Fort Portal. From Fort Portal, one will have to hire private means to head to Kibale National Park.
Airstrips – Location of Kibale forest national park
Kibale National Park can be accessed through two airstrips; Nyakisharara Airstrip in Mbarara which is about 98 Km through Kamwenge to Kanyanchu, Then Kasese Airstrip, 75Km from Fort Portal town. Kibale National Park can also be reached through Tooro/ Semuliki Wildlife Reserve, which is about 86Km from Kanyanchu.
