Kampala. Other than being the busiest, biggest and Capital city of Uganda. Kampala is also one of the prime destinations for travelers. The city derives its name from Impala. This is an antelope species that used to wander about in the forest. Which is the current location of Kampala city. Kampala is within the central part of Uganda on the shores of Lake Victoria.

This city has a diversity of cultures but is predominately home to the Baganda and Buganda Kingdom capital. Kampala comprises of a variety of attractions. These Range from cultural to leisure, various accommodation facilities and many touristic activities one can undertake. There are trails in the city that will enhance your Kampala city tour.

It’s also home to the source of the Nile. And the hub for most of the tourist activities on the Nile. It is also the Busoga kingdom capital and one of the most industrialized towns in Uganda. Most manufacturing industries are located in Jinja town because of the proximity to the Hydroelectricity stations. On your way to Jinja you can visit Sezibwa falls, Itanda falls, and Mabira forest. Jinja is an adventure capital. It has activities like white water rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking, horseback safaris, and quad biking among other. A boat trip to the source of the Nile is a must-do while on an Uganda safari to Jinja.

Masindi is a town in Western Uganda that the Banyoro of Bunyoro Kingdom occupies. Located 217 kilometers away from Kampala, that town is surrounded by different touristic attractions. This has increased economic development in the town with improvement in services like hospitality/lodging facilities, banks among others. Masindi is strategically located.

Therefore a stay in the town will give a chance to visit Murchison Falls National Park. Additionally, Budongo forest, Bugungu wildlife Reserve, Butiaba port and Omukama’s palace among others. Fort Portal is located in the western Uganda, about 320 Kilometers by road from Kampala. The town was named after a British special commissioner of Uganda known as Sir Gerald Portal. Whose statue is found on the town’s main road. Fort Portal town is situated amidst Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Semuliki and Rwenzori Mountains.

Mbale also known as the land of Bamasaba is located in Eastern Uganda, 245 kilometers by road from Kampala. Mbale is home of the Imbalu cultural ceremony which is a circumcision ceremony that happens every even year. It is situated at the base of Mount Elgon which borders with Kenya. A trip to Mbarara will allow you to hike to the Sipi falls and Mount Elgon. Other attractions include Simu falls, Mount Elgon National Park, Mutoto Circumcision site, Kakoro rock paintings, Semei Kakungulu burial site.

Last but not the least, Kabale. This town is situated in the southwest corner where Uganda borders with Rwanda. The town is 10 kilometers away from the Katuna border and about 495 kilometers from Kampala. Kabale forms part of Kigezi region that is also known as the Switzerland of Africa. This is due to its hilly landforms and cold weather. Visiting this beautiful town makes it ideal to also visit Lake Bunyonyi. Edirisa museum portrays Bakiga culture in different ways.
