Day 1: Kampala to Kibale National Park
Leave Kampala for a 6 hours drive west via Mityana to Fort Portal through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta to Kibale National Park just under the Rwenzori Mountains as you pass through verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. A stopover in Fort Portal for lunch at Gardens restaurant. Thereafter drive at your Leisure to Kibale. Meals and overnight at Mountains of the Moon
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tour
An early morning visit after your breakfast inside Kibale Forest National Park, reputable of having the greatest variety and the highest concentration of primates in East Africa for chimpanzee trekking starting at 8.00 am. A half day search for chimpanzees and other primates including phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed and grey-cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the dense forest and birds, butterflies and many small insects. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is informative, enjoyable and excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. After lunch, go for the Bigodi Walk an initiative of the local community. The swamp is known for its rich diversity of its birdlife including the rare shoebill stork. Meals and overnight at Mountains of the Moon.
Day 3: Kibale National Park –Queen Elizabeth Park
After an early breakfast, proceed to Queen Elizabeth N.P. Carry out a game drive in the Mweya Peninsular that has a magnificent location of the Rwenzori glacial peaks. Check out Lake Katwe and other small crater lakes. Overnight stay at Enganzi lodge
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth Park
Dawn game drive in Uganda’s best park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. Famous for elephant and kob, expect to see some rarer animals like giant forest hog. There are 638 recorded bird species in the park! After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes Edward and George, for large numbers of buffalo and hippo. Overnight stay at Enganzi lodge
Day 5: Queen-Bwindi
After breakfast, you will be driven through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach to the volcanoes in which live the mountain gorillas. A visit to the bat Cave close to Maramagambo forest or a glance of Kyambura gorge is a must! Make a game drive at Ishasha on your way to Bwindi in search of the tree climbing lions. Later, drive to Bwindi via the beautiful scenery of the tea plantations. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds. The afternoon is spent on a foot safari around the local communities living around the park. Overnight and dinner at Silverback Lodge
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
After breakfast and briefing by park ranger guides, depart with picnic lunch boxes to start 30 minutes – 8 hours trek to find the Mountain gorillas as you hike up and down slippery slopes with dense mist covered vegetation. This strenuous quest will eventually bring you to the face of one of the most sought-after creatures-the mountain gorillas. After a full hour with them while observing and learning their behavior as you take photos. Time permitting in the afternoon ready for a village foot safari to meet and interact with the local communities that live around Bwindi Forest. Overnight and dinner at Silverback Lodge
Day 7: Bwindi – Kampala/Entebbe
Return to Kampala, then Entebbe, with lunch en route with a stopover at Igongo cultural centre to explore the life style of the Ankole and Bahima, thereafter proceed at the Equator Uganda before your evening departures home.
