Uganda Tours in Murchison falls national park. This is the biggest national park in Uganda that you will tour. And it covers an area of about 3900 square kilometers. Karuma falls national reserve is one of it’s main places to tour. Because this is where the Nile bursts it’s way into a narrow gorge. To form a river before crashing in powerful roaring cascades. The Murchison falls is mostly made of Savannah woodlands .

The park hosts about 76 species of mammals and 451 birds plus many more features .While you are touring  this breathtaking place ,you may also want to explore the surrounding protected area that makes up Murchison Falls Conservative Area to spot some of Africa’s icons such as African lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, buffalo and more. Tour Semuliki National Park .

Semuliki national park is one of the smallest game parks in Uganda. It sprawls across the floor of the Semuliki Valley on the remote, western side of the Rwenzori. The easternmost extension of the great Ituri Forest of the Congo Basin dominates most part of the park. It is also one of Africa’s most ancient and bio-diverse forests; one of the few to survive the last ice age, 12-18,000 years ago. While Semuliki’s species have been accumulating for over 25,000 years, the park contains evidence of even older processes.

Hot springs

Hot springs bubble up from the depths to demonstrate the powerful subterranean forces. That has been shaping the rift valley during the last 14 million years. Semuliki national park is also one of the top three spots for birdwatching in Uganda.  Key attractions in the park are the Sempaya hot springs. The hot springs boil at temperatures of up to 103°C  before shooting out in form of sprays. These boiling hot springs are an excellent spot for cooling off after birdwatching or doing game drives in the park. Therefore when you come to tour Uganda, Semuliki national park should be on your bucket list.

Tour Kibale Forest National Park. This national park is in South Uganda protecting a moist evergreen rainforest. It is located between 1100 and 1600 meters in elevation. Furthermore, it contains a diverse array of landscapes.  Kibale is one of the last remaining expanses to contain both lowland and montane forests thus making it worth touring.  In East Africa, it also sustains the last significant expanse of pre-montane forest. The park is home to a total of 70 mammal species. Most famously 13 species of primate including the chimpanzee and also contains over 375 species of birds.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests. Which dates back over 25,000 years. The forest is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa, contains almost 400 species of plants. An estimated 320 mountain gorillas roughly half of the world’s population. 350 species of birds, 120 mammals and a lot more. This, therefore, makes Bwindi worth touring.

Tour Rwenzori Mountain National Park. The Rwenzori Mountain is also the “Mountains of the Moon” a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lies in western Uganda along the Uganda-Congo border. The equatorial snow peaks include the third highest point in Africa. While the lower slopes are blanketed in moorland, bamboo and rich, moist montane forest. The national park hosts 70 mammals and 217 bird species including 19 Albertine Rift endemics. And as well as some of the world’s rarest vegetation. This is actually one of the most toured places in Uganda by both Ugandans and foreigners.

Tour Queen Elizabeth National Park.

This one is in western Uganda and is Uganda’s most-visited National Park. It’s named after Queen Elizabeth II and was made an establishment in 1954.  The park’s diverse ecosystems, which include sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes, and fertile wetlands. Make it the ideal habitat for the classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 bird species.

Tour Mt. Elgon National Park. Mt. Elgon has the largest volcanic base in the world. Located on the Uganda-Kenya border it is also the oldest and largest solitary, volcanic mountain in East Africa. Its vast form, 80km in diameter, rises more than 3,000m above the surrounding plains. The mountain’s cool heights offer respite from the hot plains below, with the higher altitudes providing a refuge for flora and fauna. Mount Elgon National Park is home to over 300 species of birds, including the endangered Lammergeyer. Small antelopes, forest monkeys, elephants and buffalos also live on the mountainside.

Tour Kidepo Valley National Park . Kidepo  Valley National Park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with South Sudan and Kenya, some 700km from Kampala. Gazetted as a national park in 1962. People also usually tour it because it has a profusion of big game. And hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species.

Tour Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo National Park is often toured because it is a compact gem. That is located conveniently close to the highway. That connects Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda tours savannah national parks and underlain by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks. Which date back more than 500 million years. It is a home to 350 bird species as well as zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi, and reedbuck.

Tour Lake Victoria. In Lake Victoria, Uganda has the largest freshwater lake in the world. Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya share the lake. Lake Victoria is where the river Nile starts its journey to Egypt. The lake is home to over 198 species of fish and 355 of birds. The dominant fish species is the Nile Perch. This is one of Africa’s largest fish and should be top of the list if you planning to do sport fishing in Uganda.

Lake Victoria is also home to some of Uganda’s best hotels and lodges. From these hotels, you can relax by the beautiful beaches or jump into a boat to visit the amazing Islands. You can visit the section of the lake in Jinja to see the source of river Nile or go to the Ssese Islands including the Ngamba Chimpanzee sanctuary which we shall discuss as an attraction of its own later.

Tour the Ssese Islands. The Ssese Islands are a collection of 84 islands within Lake Victoria. The most prominent are the Ngamba Island, Bugala, Bukasa and Banda. Most of the Ssese islands still retain their natural beauty with pristine wilderness that allow primates and other creatures to thrive. Covering  275 square kilometers.

Bugala Island is the most visited and largest of the islands. The main activity was fishing but tourism has caught up real fast and could be the leading source of livelihood for the people in the island. On a weekend, the Island is packed with middle class Ugandan’s and international tourists who are interested in relaxing and having fun in the beautiful sand beaches surrounded by beautiful scenery. If you are interested in doing a lot of fun activities like swimming, quad biking, horse riding, island hopping and canoeing, then you should think about visiting these islands for at least 3 days. To get to the island, you need to take a ferry from Nakiwogo in Entebbe. The main Islands like Bugala have a variety of accommodation facilities for both budget and luxury travelers.

Tour  the Source of the Nile in Jinja .Uganda is blessed to have the source to one of the world’s longest and most famous rivers, the Nile. The river Nile is associated with many famous events and is mentioned in the world most read books like the Bible and the Koran. It is the lifeblood of many  countries and especially Egypt. The River Nile gets its waters from Lake Victoria before starting its long journey to the Mediterranean Sea. The source of the Nile is only 2 hours away from Kampala by road and it’s clearly worth touring

Other places you can tour on your visit to Uganda

Tour the main local Markets.There is no better way to learn about the culture of a new place or people than to visit the busiest local markets. Markets offer a true picture of the kind of life everyday people live and what their values are. You might even get to hear about the latest political or social gossip. Each town in Uganda has a large market where most of the folks got to do home shopping or sell  their merchandise. Owino market , Nakawa market , nakasero market , kaleerwe market are some of the busiest markets in Uganda and therefore touring them will give you good  memories you’ll never forget .

Tour Kampala  Kampala is Uganda’s capital city. It is a large city with over 2 million people. Kampala is the best place to experience everything good about Uganda . One good thing for sure is that the people are genuinely friendly and hospitable.Kampala is also relatively calmer and safer than Nairobi in Kenya . It consists of various shopping malls , banks , international organizations and many other places .

Tour Religious places Most people in Uganda believe in God . Some of the different popular religious places you can tour while on your visit are Rubaga cathedral , Namirembe cathedral , Namugongo shrine , Old Kampala mosque , The Bahai temple and many more . Most of these places actually charge when touring them like the Bahai temple thus making it a reason for you to even tour them for the love of adventure .

Tour cultural places and sites . Culture in Uganda is actually vast and very interesting thus  when you visit the various cultural places you will get to learn about different types of culture . Some of the cultural sites and places are the Lubiri palace for the King of Buganda kingdom , Kasubi royal tombs where Buganda Kings are burried , Ndere center  and many more .

Tour  the Equator Crossing on your Uganda Tours The main equator crossing in Kayabwe along Masaka road is one of the most visited landmarks in Uganda. It happens to be located along a major route used by tourists visiting Uganda’s main national parks.  The equator line marks the point where the earth’s south and northern hemispheres are separated. In other words, the equator line divides the world into two. There are other marks to show the equator line in other parts of Uganda but not as  the one in Kayabwe. The best part about touring this place  is taking photos with two legs in different parts of the earths hemisphere to show your friends and other relations back home.
