6 days Uganda wildlife safari

Embark on a 6-day Uganda wildlife safari to explore Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Forest, and Lake Mburo National Parks. Encounter rare mountain gorillas in Bwindi, savannah game in Queen Elizabeth, and zebras in Lake Mburo. Departing from Kampala and concluding at Entebbe International Airport, this safari offers unforgettable wildlife experiences in Uganda’s renowned protected areas.

Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up Kampala -Queen Elizabeth Wildlife tour

After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the Uganda Safari. On arrival, undertake a game drive in the park in anticipation of mammals such as Hippos, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Lions, primates and the elusive giant forest hog among others. For bird watchers enjoy viewing some of 610 bird species recorded in this park which makes QENP a birder’s haven. Day 2: Game Drive & Afternoon Launch Cruise

You will wake up early for your breakfast and rush for an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi area in search for different wildlife animals missed out the previous day for the Uganda Safari. Later you will have a guided visit to the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot Kitagata Lake and the enormous Kamengo Crater encountering more mammals at these spots. Return to your lodge for lunch before an afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel – a prime spot for wildlife sightings including Hippopotamuses, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee-eater, several species of falcons and the raptors. Day 3: Ishasha Tree Climbing Lions – Bwindi National Park

After a morning breakfast transfer to Ishasha, the southern sector of QENP for viewing tree-climbing lions. Thence proceed to Bwindi and arrive early enough for your lunch.

A total of 350 bird species have been recorded in Bwindi National Park, which is relatively a high figure since the park lacks water birds. Of special interest to birders are 23 species endemic to the Albertine Rift, and at least 14 species found nowhere else in Uganda, including the African Green Broadbill, Brown-necked Parrot, Frazer’s eagle owl, white-tailed blue flycatcher and white-bellied robin chat. There are over 200 butterfly species in Bwindi. Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Tour

Enjoy an early breakfast and hike to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers. At 9.00 commence the gorilla trekking activity following the gorilla trails deep in the thick forest. The time taken to encounter the gorillas ranges between 2 and 8 hours, and at times a full day depending on the movement of these awesome apes on a particular day. Day 5: Bwindi Forests -Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast and proceed to Lake Mburo. Begin with a game drive and check out Uganda’s wildlife such as zebra, warthog, buffalo, klipspringer, eland, oribi and waterbuck. Better yet, you can do the game drive on ATV quad bikes; they are much fun.  Also, go for a boat trip on Lake Mburo where you will see several other lakes like Kazuma, Lake Bwa besides Lake Mburo. Gaze at the huge hippos, crocodiles and buffaloes as they drink water. There are striking birds to check out like Abyssinian ground hornbill, the crested crane (Uganda’s national emblem), saddle bill storks among others. Day 6: Lake Mburo -Kampala & Drop off Entebbe Airport

Morning ready for a guided nature walk to viewing podium for animals where they come to lick salt. Thereafter return to Kampala en route stopping-over at the Equator for photography and handicrafts shopping. Later be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your outbound flight Meal plan (HB)
